Another example of the benefits of homeschooling is the fact that you can advance your child’s education as fast or slow as you need or want. If someone has a learning disability, for example, you can go slow and use methods to teach it may not be available in mainstream schools. On the other side of the argument, if the child shows gifted qualities in education, you can feed them information as fast as they can take it. You probably wonder as I do sometimes what happened to some of the poor children. All they did to receive such admonishment was not able to provide the latest clothing fashions or had ears that were perceived to stand out too much, or maybe they had little weight problem. Even the slightest deviation from the popular crowd thought was cool would such treatment. This is one of the potential benefits of homeschooling. It all goes away before it can even start. Your child will not have hated to go to school every day to deal with this type of mistreatment. They can focus on the joy of learning and feel good about themselves.
There is another point to make. If your child is experiencing this type of treatment in public school now, take them away from him and homeschool. There is really no reason to. Whatever their age, get them out of the situation before permanent damage in the form of hate school, low self-esteem or worse. Allow them to enjoy learning again and relieve harassment. You’ll both be happier.
I feel the benefits of homeschooling far outweigh the cons by a large margin. It’s more natural, it relieves the student enormous peer pressure, it allows for personal learning style and it creates opportunities for gifted student to excel. What could be better than that?
